The Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia has published a Scoping Report on the arrangement of the Kvemo Kartli regional non-hazardous waste landfill.

See the Scoping Report and Shp files at the following link.

You can submit written remarks and opinions related to the scoping announcement of the planned activity to the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia until December 25, 2020, at the following address: Tbilisi, Marshal Gelovani Avenue N6, or e-mail: eia@mepa.gov.ge

We would like to remind you that the construction of a new regional non-hazardous waste landfill is planned within the framework of the Kvemo Kartli Solid Waste Management project in accordance with European standards. The new facility will serve more than 200 thousand residents of 5 municipalities in the region (Tetritskaro, Marneuli, Tsalka, Bolnisi, and Dmanisi). The municipalities will also be equipped for waste collection within the project, which will make the cleaning system more efficient and improve sanitation in the region. The construction of a new landfill will create additional jobs for the local population. Existing landfills in the region will be gradually closed, which will significantly improve the environment and living conditions of the population.

The project is implemented by the Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia with the financial support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
