The Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia has published a Scoping Report on the arrangement of Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti Regional Non-Hazardous Waste landfill.

See the Scoping announcement and Scoping report at the following link.

You can submit written remarks and opinions related to the scoping announcement of the planned activity to the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia until May 5, 2022, at the following address: Tbilisi, Marshal Gelovani Avenue N6, or e-mail: eia@mepa.gov.ge

We would like to remind you that the construction of a new regional non-hazardous waste landfill is planned within the framework of the project “Integrated Solid Waste Management – Kutaisi” in accordance with European standards. The project also includes the organization of a system of waste transfer stations and equipping municipalities with special waste collection techniques needed for waste collection and treatment. This system will completely replace the existing landfills, which will be gradually closed in accordance with the standards. As a result of the project implementation, environmental and sanitary standards in the project regions will be significantly improved.

The project “Integrated Solid Waste Management – Kutaisi” is currently being implemented under German-Georgian bilateral cooperation, with the financial support of the EU Neighborhood Investment Platform  (NIF), the German Bank of Reconstruction (KfW) and the Government of Georgia.
