Annual Report 2014 of the Ltd. “Solid waste Management Company of Georgia”

Giorgi Shukhoshvili presented the annual report on the Company’s carried out works in the year of 2014 for the representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Diplomatic Corps, Governmental Institutions, Donor Organizations, and Media. Shukhoshvili also presented important projects planned for 2015.

According to Shukhoshvili, as a result of the works carried out by the Company in 2014, 19 municipal regional landfills were rehabilitated with overall cost of 7,3 million Georgian Lari, 29 landfill perimeters were fenced with overall cost of 725, 856 Georgian Lari, 16 units of tractors were purchased for advancing the rehabilitated landfills’ operations.

Furthermore, two large international projects were launched, which implies construction of new international standards landfills for Imereti and Kvemo Kartli regions.

Ltd. “Solid waste Management Company of Georgia” is implementing the Project “Integrated Solid Waste Management Kutaisi” with financial support of KfW Entwicklungsbank. The overall cost of the project amounts to 26 million Euros. On the basis of the Loan and Grant Agreements, Separate Agreements were signed in 2014 within the framework of the project. Two-step tenders were also concluded.

In addition, Ltd. “Solid waste Management Company of Georgia” is implementing the Project “Kvemo Kartli Solid Waste Management” with financial support of the EBRD.  The overall cost of the project amounts to 10 million Euros. Within the framework of the project, the selected Swedish consultant company COWI prepared Preliminary Research Project. By this time, the Feasibility Study of the region is also worked out.

In 2014, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia with involvement of the Ltd. “Solid waste Management Company of Georgia” and appropriate ministries prepared the Express of an Interest document. The document aims at investment attractions and obtaining funds for implementing new solid waste recycling technologies and waste recycling facilities in Georgia. The final edition of the Document is available for now. In the nearest future an Express of an Interest Document will be officially launched, which gives possibilities to the potential investors for expressing their interests in this direction.
