In the framework of the Project ,,integrated waste management project in Kvemo Karli’’ the director of the,, Solid waste management Company of Georgia’’Ltd, Giorgi Shukhoshvili has signed the Cooperation agreement with the implementation consultant company (PIU) – HPC HARRESS PICKEL CONSULT AG to provide services.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Representatives of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Georgia and Municipalities of Kvemo Kartli.
The project implies construction of a new regional sanitary landfill that will serve the following Municipalities: Marneuli, Bolnisi, Dmanisi, Tetritskaro, and Tsalka. The project also considers purchasing all the necessary technical equipment for effectively fulfilling the waste management activities. The project implementation dates are 2015-2018, and afterwards, all the existing municipal landfills in the region will be closed. The total budget is 11 500 Million Euros, out of which 3 Million is a Grant from SIDA, 7 Million is a Loan provided by EBRD, 1, 5 Million Euros is a local contribution.
