Kaspi municipality will be served by renewed landfill

Rehabilitation works on municipal landfill of Kaspi completed. Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, George Koberidze viewed implemented works together with director of LLC “Solid Waste Management Company”, George Shukhoshvili and representatives of local authorities.

The landfill, which is located in Akhtala territory, covers an area of 75312.44 square meters and serves Kaspi municipality. 90 cube/meters of landfill enter every day on the territory. Within the frameworks of the project of rehabilitation, the territory of the polygon was fenced, external and internal access roads to the landfill were organized, and the area of the landfill was electrified. Waste was covered with insulating layer and the special prohibiting signs were installed.

Landfill of Kaspi was handed to “Solid Waste Management Company” in 2013. The landfill was not operated in line with the standards; the waste input process was disorganized. Currently, problems are solved.

Ltd. “Solid Waste Management Company” at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, started rehabilitation works of the landfill immediately after its handing. The total cost of the project was 448,000 Gel. 17 people were employed on the rehabilitation works.
