The Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Teimuraz Murgulia and the Director of the Solid Waste Management Company, George Shukhoshvili, together with the Governor of Guria region and other representatives of the local self-government visited the rehabilitated landfill in Ozurgeti.
Ozurgeti landfill was given under ownership to the “Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia” LTD in 2013. Within the frameworks of the rehabilitation project, the landfill was fenced, sentry box was placed on its territory; firefighting stand, waste disposal render and prohibition sign were installed; foundation was prepared and 60 tone scales for weighing cars was installed; the landfill was electrified; shed for vehicles and equipment was installed; landfill hull was formed and it was covered with isolation layer – clay ground.
As a result of the implemented works, household waste of Ozurgeti municipality is placed securely both for environment and for health. The further exploitation of landfill will contribute of prevention of pollution of the environment and human health impacts.
Construction works of the motor roads on the territory of Ureki landfill will be implemented by the “Solid Waste Management Company”, and the waste will be covered with isolation layer.
