04/06/2018 – Study tour on hazardous waste management was held in Sweden. The Director of Ltd “Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia”, Giorgi Shukhoshvili and the deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nodar Kereselidze participated in this tour and received detailed information from Swede colleagues about their experience.
The main goal of the tour is to strengthen country’s abilities in this field, improve extended producer responsibility and the system of hazardous and biodegradable waste management in Georgia. That will reduce negative impact of waste management’s existing practice on environment and human health.
Legislative and technical details of Sweden’s hazardous waste were discussed during the tour. It included meetings with representatives of Environmental Protection Agency of Sweden, Municipalities and Businesses operating in Hazardous Waste management sphere. Participants of the study tour have also visited hazardous waste management facilities. The visit was held with the support of Environmental Protection Agency of Sweden.
The tour was attended by representatives of Ltd “Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia”, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Ltd “Tbilservice Group” and Ltd “Hygiene”.
