28/09/2021- With the financial support of the EU, the SWMCG started upgrading the hardware and software for registering the waste deliveries to the regional non-hazardous waste landfills, specifically, implementing new Management Information System (MIS). The new system will enable SWMCG to record each individual delivery of waste in a more efficient way.
The software will also enable SWMCG to provide improved comprehensive data to the municipalities and MEPA on each individual waste delivery, on total waste delivered and on variations per season.
In the future, the software will enable detailed analysis to support future forecasts of waste deliveries.
The software is provided by Weightron Bilanciai Ltd from the UK, part of the Bilanciai group, a world-renowned company delivering products and services for industrial weighing processes.
MIS is being implemented within the framework of the “Integrated Solid Waste Management – Kutaisi”, financed through the loan provided by KfW, under the German-Georgian Financial Cooperation agreement and a grant for financing the technical assistance for project implementation through EU Neighbourhood Investment Platform (NIP). This project in Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions aims at improving the overall environmental situation in the regions through enhancement of the solid waste management system by procurement of new waste collection equipment to the Municipalities, closure of existing landfills, construction of the network of Transfer stations and of a new Regional Non-Hazardous Waste Landfill in accordance with national and international standards (EU standards).
