Within the framework of “Integrated Solid Waste Management Program II”, a public hearing on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report of the new regional non-hazardous waste landfill in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti will be held in Zugdidi Municipality, in the primary school of the village Tsatskhvi and in the administrative unit of the Didinedzi Village.

Time and place of the public hearing of the Environmental Impact Assessment(EIA) report of the planned activity:
- May 19, 2022, at 4:00 pm Zugdidi region, primary school of the village Tsatskhvi;
- May 20, 2022, 12:00 Zugdidi district, administrative unit of the Didinedzi Village.

We would like to remind you that the Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia, within the framework of the project “Integrated Solid Waste Management Programme II”, has submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment(EIA) report for the construction of a new regional non-hazardous waste landfill in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region to the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture on “Environmental Decision” acceptance.
According to the report, all mitigation measures will be considered during the project implementation. The construction and operation of the new landfill will be carried out in accordance with international standards and Georgian legislation, which will improve sanitary-hygienic standards and living conditions in the region.
The “Integrated Solid Waste Management Programme II in the Kakheti and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Regions” includes the construction of a new regional non-hazardous waste landfill for each region, the arrangement of a system of waste transfer stations and equipping municipalities with special waste collection techniques needed for waste collection and treatment. Also, after the commissioning of the new waste landfills, the existing (old) landfills in the project areas will be gradually closed in accordance with the standards.
The project is implemented within Georgia-Germany Financial Cooperation, through the financial support of the German Bank for Reconstruction and Development (KfW). The cost of the project for both regions is a total of 30 million euros loan and 2 million euros grant.
