04/12/2022 – The Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia (SWMCG) under the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, within the framework of the “Integrated Solid Waste Management Program II”, handed over special waste collection vehicle with a volume of 20 m3 and 559 units of containers of various sizes to Sighnaghi municipality, and 944 units of waste collection containers of various sizes to Telavi Municipality. In addition, Sighnaghi and Telavi municipalities also received special street cleaner forms for 2 seasons (summer and winter).
Giorgi Shukhoshvili, director of the Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia (SWMCG) , Platon Kalmakhelidze, first deputy of the State Representativer of Kakheti , Levan Andriashvili, Mayor of Telavi Municipality and Malkhaz Begiashvili, Mayor of Signakhi Municipality took part in the process of handing over the new equipment.
In total, within the framework of the “Integrated Solid Waste Management Program II”, 5397 containers of various sizes, 223 uniforms, 24 special waste collection units of various sizes and 10 pickup trucks will be gradually transferred to the municipalities of the Kakheti region.
In addition, it is planned to equip Telavi with waste collection containers and special sorting equipment as part of a pilot project on sorting and separate collection of paper / cardboard.
The project is currently being implemented with the financial support of the German Bank for reconstruction (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau – KfW).
