New landfill Kutaisi – public discussions

15/04/2016 – “Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia” Ltd. Coordinated by Giorgi Shukhoshvili, and co-chairman of The Green Movement of Georgia/Friends of Earth Georgia; Nino Chkhobadze. The coordinators and Accompanying Measures Consultant (PEM) Rene Boesten held a meeting with the Kutaisi City Mayor Shota Murghulia. The technical details and Preliminary construction processes of the Kutaisi landfill were discussed at the meeting. In the framework of the “Integrated Solid Waste Management Kutaisi” company officials later met with the residents of Kutaisi where the project was discussed in detail. In the following two years the project envisages construction of the new regional landfill. A newsletter was distributed among the population. The new regional landfill fulfilling the European standards will serve the Imereti and Racha – Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions.
