Rehabilitation works on the municipal landfill of Terjola will be finished very soon. Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, George Koberidze and the director of “Solid Waste Management Company”, George Shukhoshvili inspected ongoing works, today.
The aim of the project is to arrange the landfill of Terjola according to the European standards. The landfill is located on the territory of 42 thousand 639 square meters. Every day 15 m/cube solid waste enters the territory from Terjola municipality and its surrounding villages. Currently, the area is fenced and arrangement of the internal and external roadways is ongoing. Also, electrification of the polygon is being implemented. 41 people are employed on the rehabilitation works, most of whom are local residents.
Terjolis landfill has been operated since 2007. It was handed to the “Solid Waste Management Company” last year. The cost of the project, which is funded by the state budget, is 296 990 GEL.
