Gurjaani municipal landfill closing plan was worked out within the framework of a USAID financed project – “Waste Management Technologies in Regions.”
The Plan aims at presenting project basis and activities for minimization of negative environmental impacts of the landfill. The carried out studies revealed particular impacts of the waste at the landfill.
The main goals of the activities implied in the Plan are waste consolidation, isolation, and coverage so that to prevent the landfill perimeter from floods in case of atmospheric precipitations.
Giorgi Shukhoshvili – Director of Ltd. “Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia,” William Althouse – the Director of the project “Waste Management Technologies in Regions,” Nino Shavgulidze – Deputy Director of the project “Waste Management Technologies in Regions,” Alverd Chankseliani – Head of the Waste and Chemical Substances at the Ministry at the Ministry of Environment Protection and Natural Resources of Georgia attended the event.
