The HALO Trust – an international landmine clearing organization completed landmine clearance works on the site for a new regional sanitary landfill of Kutaisi.
Giorgi Shukhoshvili, the director of Ltd. “Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia” and Shota Murghulia, the Mayor of Kutaisi, visited and checked the carried out works.
Ltd. “Solid waste Management Company of Georgia” with financial support of KfW Entwicklungsbank is implementing the Project “Integrated Solid Waste Management Kutaisi.” The project considers building a new sanitary landfill in Kutaisi, which will serve for Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions. In addition, the project also implies technical assistant component aimed at financing appropriate programs for company capacity enhancement. The project implementation dates are defined as 2014-2017 years; afterwards all the existing landfills in the region will be closed.
