On 10/09/2024 – The “Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia” Ltd is carrying out rehabilitation works at the Telavi Municipality landfill. As part of the work, the surface of the landfill is being shaped, waste is being moved, compacted, and covered with an earth isolation layer. Additionally, internal roads and earth isolation stockpiles (earth embankments) are being constructed.
The rehabilitation started on August 15th and initially involved earthworks and waste relocation, which temporarily caused the spread of odor. This issue has been resolved, and the subsequent stages of the work are ongoing.
The rehabilitation of the Telavi landfill is expected to be completed by November 13, 2024. The project budget is 535,996 GEL.
In order to ensure proper waste management, rehabilitation works are regularly carried out at the facilities under the company’s jurisdiction, ensuring the safe disposal and management of household waste.
All old landfills under the management of the Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia will be gradually closed once a new network of modern regional non-hazardous waste disposal facilities and waste transfer stations is established.
