02/16/2016- Today, Giorgi Shukhoshvili, the Director of state-owned ,, Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia Ltd, established under the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure held the workshop with the representatives of the German Development Bank (KfW) on “Recycling and Processing of Municipal Solid Waste” in the framework of the Integrated Solid Waste Management Project Kutaisi.
The main objective of the workshop was to discuss the new legal changes regarding the solid waste separation/recycling, separation at source and the potential impact of source separation and post collection separation on the operation of the landfill. Besides, the principles of arrangement of new regional landfills and contemporary technologies of solid waste separation/recycling have been discussed based on the example of the “Integrated Solid Waste Management Project Kutaisi.” The future perspectives and challenges in the country related to the waste recycling have been talked over.
The workshop was attended by the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources and the representatives of the European Union, the German Development Bank (KfW), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Swedish International Development Cooperation (SIDA), US Agency for International Development (USAID).
