Davit Shavliashvili visited landfill construction site in Sagaredjo

Landfill construction in Sagaredjo municipality of Kakheti region will end in the next few days. Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Davit Shavliashvili together with the Head of Solid Waste Management Company Giorgi Shukhoshvili visited landfill site today.

8 major landfill arrangement was completed this year. Currently 11 operating landfills (Sagaredjo, Tsnori, Lagodekhi, Dusheti, Khashuri, Kaspi, Terjola, Samtredia, Sachkjere, Marneuli, Poti) will start operating by the end of the year.

Sagaredjo landfill was constructed in 1975 but it didn’t meet ecological and sanitary standards. It was easily accessible for livestock. Within the framework of the project, internal roads were arranged sanitary facilities, fire shield, guards booth, lighting and other amenities.

The site was confined and special signs were installed. The waste will be place in specific cells after the renovated wasteland will start operating which will significantly reduce harmful impact on the environment and ensure safety of the local population. The total cost of the project is 170,796.
