13/10/2022 – The Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia (SWMCG) under the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia handed over 1,400 waste containers with a capacity of 1,100 liters and 568 units of street waste bin to the municipality of Zugdidi. Also, within the framework of the project, it is planned to transfer to each municipality (Zugdidi, Tsalenjikha, Martvili and Senaki) 4 units of special machinery equipment with a capacity of 20 m3.
The new equipment was inspected by the First Deputy governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Region Nino Vibliani, Mayor of Zugdidi Mamuka Tsotseria and the representatives of the German Bank for Reconstruction (KfW) together with Giorgi Shukhoshvili, Director of the Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia (SWMCG).
The municipalities of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti will be equipped with various sizes of waste collection containers, special vehicles, uniforms and other technical facilities under the “Integrated Solid Waste Management Program II”.
In addition, it is planned to equip Zugdidi with waste collection containers and special sorting equipment as part of a pilot project on sorting and separate collection of paper / cardboard.
The project is currently being implemented with the financial support of the German Bank for reconstruction (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau – KfW).
