This includes the establishment of a network consisting of two new regional non-hazardous landfills and six waste transfer stations. Besides, the possibility of setting up two mechanical-biological treatment plants in the future is also being considered.

The consulting company conducting the study presented the final report at the meeting. Additionally, the current situation and practices in the regions of Shida Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, and Samtskhe-Javakheti were reviewed, and participants were introduced to the waste management system implementation plan and the project’s execution strategy.

The working meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Mzia Giorgobiani; representatives of the Solid Waste Management Company; the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia; the Ministry of Finance of Georgia; the administrations of state representatives and municipalities in the project regions; as well as representatives of the international consulting company COWI and its local partner, RECC–Caucasus.
